Then there is the hassle
When you drive, you find a spot, get yourself and the bags to the terminal, and do the whole thing in reverse when you land, usually tired and usually in the dark. In a cab, you get out at the door. Coming back, you get in at the door. That is most of the difference.
When we would tell you to drive
Short trips. A night or two away, cheap parking, a car you do not mind leaving, and you like driving. Or when you are dropping someone off and heading straight home. No need to overthink those.
When a cab is the better call
- Anything longer than a few days, when the parking bill starts to hurt.
- Early flights, when you would rather not drive half awake.
- Winter, when the road to the airport is slower and the parking lot is worse.
- Families with a lot of bags. Ask about the SUV.
- Any trip where you will land tired and want to go straight home.
You can mix and match
