West Edmonton Mall is one of the trips we drive most from Spruce Grove and Stony Plain. It is close, about 20 to 25 minutes along Highway 16, but anyone who has looked for a spot near the waterpark on a Saturday in December knows the drive is the easy part.
Driving yourself
If you are buying something large, driving is the obvious choice. The catch is finding a spot close to where you are going on a busy day, then remembering which of the huge lots you left the car in.
Transit
There is commuter transit between Spruce Grove and west Edmonton, but it is built around work hours. Check the current schedule if your times line up. Late evenings and weekends are harder.
Taking a cab
A taxi makes the most sense when:
- you are going to the waterpark or a show and will be tired after
- you are with kids and do not want to walk them across a parking lot
- you plan to have a drink at dinner
- you do not want to hunt for a spot on a busy day
