A 6 a.m. flight means a pickup while it is still dark and most of the neighbourhood is asleep. It sounds worse than it is, as long as the night before goes right.
Book the day before, at the latest
We answer the phone at any hour, but an early ride sorted the previous afternoon is a lot better than one arranged at 2 a.m. after you have realized you forgot. When you book, give us your address, flight time and airline, and a phone number that will be on the whole night. Our dispatcher will call to confirm.
Set yourself up the night before
- Bags packed and by the door.
- Passports, IDs and boarding passes in a bag you are keeping with you.
- Phone charged, ringer on, not on silent.
- Porch light on so the driver can see the right house.
- In winter: clear the walkway if you can.
What the confirmation call is like
After you book, our dispatcher will call to check the details: address, time, and how many of you there are. It is a short call. If you cannot pick up, call back, because we would rather confirm than guess.
It is quiet out there at that hour
The roads are usually empty at 4 or 5 in the morning, which is nice. The catch is that if you are late, there is not much you can do to make up the time. Being ready on time is worth a lot more than a fast driver.
The morning of
Be ready a few minutes early. Drivers do not usually arrive late, but you do not want to be pulling on boots when they get there. If something changes, like you are running behind or your flight has moved, call +1 780 935 3690 as soon as you know.
Winter mornings
Snow at 4 a.m. is slower than snow at noon: unplowed roads, cold cars, a driveway that looks like nobody lives there. Book the day before, tell us about the driveway, and give yourself more slack than you would in summer.
Do the check-in the night before
Most airlines let you check in online the day before. Do it, and save the boarding pass to your phone. One less thing to fight with in the terminal, half awake.
What if I oversleep?
It happens. Call us right away. We will do what we can. It is still better to call early than to hope for the best.
