AirportCabs car on the road at sunset

If you live out around Onoway or Alberta Beach, getting to Edmonton International Airport is a real trip before the trip. It is a long drive, and the last thing you want on holiday morning is to be white-knuckling it down the highway in the dark.

Do the sums for yourself

We are not going to quote you numbers here, because airport parking rates change. Look up the current daily rate on the airport website, multiply by the number of days you will be away, then add fuel and a bit for the wear on your vehicle. Compare that to a flat fare for the ride out and back. For a short weekend, driving may win. For a week or two, it often does not.

The other cost

Nobody puts this on the spreadsheet, but the drive home after an overnight flight is the worst part of a trip. Being picked up at arrivals and taken to your door is worth something.

What a typical trip looks like

Say your flight leaves at noon and the airline wants you there by 10. From the lake country, allow an hour or more for the drive, then add a cushion, so the pickup is around 8:30. That is not the crack of dawn, but it is earlier than you would like, and it is one reason people book the night before.

When driving yourself still makes sense

We would be lying if we said a taxi is right for everyone. If you are away for a night or two, have a car you are happy to leave at the airport, and actually enjoy the drive, take your own. Where a cab wins is the longer trips, the very early flights, and any time you would rather arrive rested.

Sharing the ride

A taxi is not a one-person thing. If a neighbour or family member is flying the same day, ask us about one ride for both of you. It is easier to sort out over the phone than on a form.

Winter matters more out here

Country roads are the last to get plowed and the first to drift over. If your flight is between November and March, add real time. Tell us when you book so we can plan for it.

Long weekends and school breaks

Busy travel days are the ones to plan for. If you are flying the day before a long weekend, or at the start or end of a school break, book earlier than you think you need to, and leave a bit more room in the timing.

How to book

A day ahead is the minimum for a trip this long, and earlier is better. Have your address ready (a range road or township number helps a lot if you have one), your flight details and how many people and bags you are bringing. Call or WhatsApp +1 780 935 3690. Our Lac Ste. Anne airport taxi page has the details, and the Edmonton airport page explains arrivals.

A few quick questions

Which communities in Lac Ste. Anne County do you cover?

We pick up around the county, including Onoway, Alberta Beach and the lake areas. Call us with your address and we will confirm.

How far ahead should I book from out here?

At least a day ahead, and more for early flights or long weekends. It is a longer trip, so we plan it properly.

Can I book the ride home too?

Yes. Book both together and give us your flight number for the return.
